Laura has the experience, knowledge and skills to be an exceptional Family Court Judge. She has been practicing law in West Virginia for nearly 30 years. She has spent countless hours in Family Court hearings and has prepared hundreds of court orders. She is committed to public service and guided by a sense of duty to protect the rights and well-being of all individuals, especially our children. Laura is eager to serve the people of Berkeley and Jefferson Counties and to make a positive and lasting impact on the Eastern Panhandle community.
EXPERIENCE
Laura graduated Magna Cum Laude from West Virginia University in 1992 and from WVU College of Law in 1995. She was born and raised in West Virginia and has called Martinsburg home for nearly 30 years.
Laura brings to the table not only years of experience but also a deep sense of justice, empathy, and understanding.
Laura is a Child Advocate Attorney for the West Virginia Bureau for Child Support Enforcement. For over two decades, Laura served as General Counsel to the Berkeley County Board of Education.
Additionally, Laura practiced education law in private practice with the law firm of Bowles Rice, LLC. She later served as an attorney for the non-profit Eastern Panhandle Instructional Cooperative, where she represented Jefferson County Schools.
Laura has seen, first-hand, the challenges and circumstances facing West Virginia’s families. Laura brings to the table not only years of experience but also a deep sense of justice, empathy, and understanding.
